Extended Figure of Eight Bend
A knot for slippery line
This knot is called an extended figure eight bend. It can be used to tie two lines together. It has good non slip properties when used on Amsteel or other very slippery materials. Recent testing has shown that knots perviously thought to never slip, like the triple fisherman's knot, actually slip in this most slippery of lines. There are other ways to secure two Amsteel lines that do not slip and more will be published as in the coming weeks. This knot can probably not be untied after it is loaded.

Tie a simple knot like this. Note the orientation. |

Now grab the loop and twist it 180 degrees pushing it away from you. |

Tuck the working end thought the loop you just formed with the twist. This may be a useful stopper knot although it is unclear if it can be untied after loading. |

Now take the other line and just follow the first line around the knot. This is similar to how you tie a water knot or normal figure of eight knot when used to tie two lines together. Just be careful to keep track of the line you are following. |

Dress and tighten up the knot |
