Stopper Loop Variations
The most obvious way to attach a stopper loop is to use a luggage tag knot. You can stitch it to keep it from coming off if you want.
Alterniatively, you can tie it in place so that it can't come off. The disadvantage of this is that it flops around where with the luggage tag knot it tends to stay put.
Finally, there are applications where using a luggage tag knot won't work and stringing it through the thing you are attaching to is desirable. These really nice new T2 blocks from Harken lend themselves to useing a stopper loop and either attaching a line shackle directly, or using a double soft shackle.
