AVIATION.
Expect VFR conditions throughout the forecast period.
MARINE.
Winds are near SCEC conditions right now over the Gulf and the gradient is forecast to tighten overnight. I will amend the coastal forecast to include SCEC overnight. Models have winds lightening again Friday morning so my change will only be to overnight conditions.
Prev Discussion. /issued 236 PM EDT Thu Apr 22 2021/
DISCUSSION . Today has been very pleasant area-wide with high pressure over the region bringing drier air and comfortable outdoor conditions. This high will shift east out into the Atlantic tomorrow into Saturday as the next system develops over the Mississippi Valley region and then quickly moves northeast toward the mid-Atlantic. An associated frontal boundary will move toward the region late Saturday, bringing a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms continuing into early Sunday morning. This front will mostly wash out across the area on Sunday, with drier air moving in from the north through the end of the day. This will mean little rain chance during the day on Sunday, but still a slight chance as the boundary dissipates. High pressure builds over the region for the first few days of next week, keeping rain-free conditions in place.
AVIATION . VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period. Winds will be northeast to east tonight through Friday.
MARINE . High pressure over the area will shift east into the Atlantic tomorrow and Saturday as another front approaches from the northwest. This front will move into the area Saturday and Saturday night, with a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms. The front will eventually dissipate with high pressure building back in for next week. East winds tonight will increase near exercise caution levels before diminishing in the morning. Winds then increase again and turn south to southeast Friday night into Saturday with the approaching front and then gradually veer to the west and northwest for the end of the weekend into the start of next week.
FIRE WEATHER . High pressure over the region will shift east Friday and Saturday ahead of an approaching cold front, with winds becoming east to southeast and then southwest by Saturday afternoon. Increasing low- level moisture will keep relative humidity values above critical levels, with no fire weather concerns. No significant fog is expected.
