GMZ800 Synopsis For The Coastal Waters From Bonita Beach To Suwannee River- 231 Pm Est Wed Jan 22 2020
Synopsis.. Strong high pressure ridges south-southwest along the eastern seaboard, over florida and into the gulf of mexico. Interaction between this high and an area of low pressure north of the bahamas is producing gusty northerly winds across the eastern gulf of mexico. Winds and seas have dropped below sca criteria, so have cancelled the sca that was in effect through this evening. Will continue to hold scec in gulf waters through the night, then further decreasing on Thursday. The high pressure moves off the mid-atlantic coast by Thursday evening which will bring the winds around to the east and will remain below any sca or scec level to close out the week. Another cold front moves through the coastal waters on Friday producing a chance of showers. No other marine impacts expected.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 215 PM EST Wed Jan 22 2020

DISCUSSION. The upper low and associated troughing has moved off the southeast U.S. and is now located north of the Bahamas. The frigid weather associated with this trough that we have seen over the past couple of days will be replaced by a more warm and moist air mass as an upper ridge located over the Mississippi River Valley moves eastward. This ridge will hold over the area through Friday before being replaced by another upper low and trough that is currently located over Kansas. As the ridge moves into the western Atlantic on Friday, the closed low and trough digs south through the central U.S. Models currently have this low and trough moving east just south of the Great lakes through the weekend and exiting the northeast U.S. by early Monday morning.

On the surface, the high pressure center that was over the central U.S. yesterday has slightly weakened and is now located over the mid- Atlantic states. This high continues to ridge south-southwest along the eastern seaboard, over Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico and will help keep rain-free conditions over Florida for the next couple of days.

The next weather system develops through the Mississippi River Valley with a cold front extending south into the central Gulf of Mexico late Thursday into Friday. Winds turn southeast, then southwest ahead of this system and will warm things up on Thursday and Friday. This system will move eastward with the cold front moving across Florida on Friday bringing increasing rain chances. High pressure ridges in from the west behind this front bringing northerly winds once again that will bring another slight cool down on Saturday and Sunday. Models are now hinting at the development of a weak low in the gulf by Monday, bringing a chance of showers to the area on Monday. High pressure builds in once again by Tuesday bringing clearing conditions and seasonal temperatures.

AVIATION. VFR conditions with northerly winds between 7-12 knots, veering northeast overnight. Increasing clouds around 030/050 by morning, but expected to remain VFR. No other aviation impacts expected.

MARINE.

FIRE WEATHER. High pressure ridges in from the north keeping rain-free conditions and increasing RH values for the next couple of days. A weak cold front moves through the area late Friday bringing a slight chance of showers. Some more dry and cool air moves in on Saturday and Sunday, but not expected to drop below any fire weather threshold.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
