Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 342 AM EDT Wed Apr 1 2020

SHORT TERM (Today - Thursday). A mid level trough from the lower Great Lakes to the Mid-Atlantic coast rotates off the coast by early Thu as ridging from northeast Mexico to the northern plains shifts east . reaching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Upper Midwest by late Thu At the surface. a low just off the VA/NC coast tracks toward New England coastal waters with a trailing cold front sweeping down FL . exiting to the south by this afternoon. Canadian high pressure stretching across the upper Great Lakes to the TX/northeast Mexico coast shifts into the eastern U.S. Thu.

A couple of broken lines of showers will cross and exit Charlotte and Lee counties during the rest of the overnight hours. A cold front currently in Levy county moves south today with clearing skies and cool dry air in it's wake. Temperatures will drop to below normal with the relative humidity very low. While winds on the Gulf waters will begin to diminish residual seas will create a high risk of rip currents through this evening.

LONG TERM (Thursday night - Tuesday). High pressure surface and aloft will maintain pleasant dry weather with near seasonal level temperatures across the entire forecast area through Saturday. On Sunday a few showers (Pops 20%) will be possible as some upper level energy moves across the area within the anticyclonic flow aloft, otherwise dry weather with moderating temperatures and increasing humidity levels will be the rule into early next week as deep layered ridging rebuilds in over the Gulf and Florida in response to upper level troughing along the U.S. west coast. Low temperatures in the 50s early Friday morning will moderate back into the 60s through the remainder of the period, with daytime highs on Friday and into the weekend climbing into the lower to mid 80s, with upper 80s returning by early next week.

AVIATION. 01/06Z TAF cycle. Prevailing MVFR CIGS TIL 12-13Z as front pushes in with CU/SC. A narrow band of SHRA is approaching the southern most terminals with VCSH. AFT 12-13Z FEW-SCT gives way to SKC AFT 21Z W and NW winds. with gusts ending by 21-03Z.

MARINE. Scattered showers clear the southern waters around day break as a cold front sweeps in from the north. High pressure builds in behind the front then tracks east through the weekend. Robust to strong winds at advisory criteria will begin to diminish this morning to caution speeds. Winds continue to diminish and veer over the next few days as the high pressure moves by.

FIRE WEATHER. Showers exit to the south around sunrise as a front slides down the area today with cool dry air. Humidity values drop well below 35 percent for extended durations during the rest of the work week. While ERC values are high the winds do not reach Red Flag criteria speeds.

I do not sell or share any user data or anything else for that matter. The only personal information I save is in the site log which has a line for each page view which includes the IP address your browser sends in the header as well as which page you requested. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
