Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 708 PM EST Wed Dec 11 2019

UPDATE. Some showers and isolated thunderstorms remain in southern portions of Lee County just east of Fort Myers along with a couple isolated showers in Charlotte and DeSoto counties. These showers are moving off to the SE and should exit the area over the next hour or two with little impact. The remainder of the evening looks fairly quiet, with low clouds hanging around for the rest of the night and into the day tomorrow.

Weak instability will remain across portions of the peninsula, and this could lead to a few showers across interior portions of the peninsula tomorrow. However, no major washout is expected. Showers remain in the forecast into the weekend when another front pushes through. The forecast remains on track and no additional adjustments have been made.

AVIATION. Ceilings have been bouncing up and down, flirting with IFR, and northern terminals have begun to experience gusty north winds. This trend will continue through the overnight with MVFR ceilings prevailing from 02Z onward and gusty winds to the north. Southern terminals are dealing with showers, but these are expected to wind down in the next hour or two, and MVFR ceilings will also set in as the front passes by with a stronger northerly wind.

MARINE. While the sea fog potential has diminished now that the front has passed, gustier NNE winds are setting in across coastal waters, prompting the issuance of a Small Craft Advisory for most of the coastal waters and Small Craft Exercise Caution for southern nearshore waters. Conditions will begin to improve late in the day tomorrow, but unsettled weather returns on Friday as another front approaches the state.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
