GMZ800 Synopsis For The Coastal Waters From Bonita Beach To Suwannee River- 254 Pm Est Sun Mar 7 2021
Synopsis..With high pressure in control, gusty ne winds remain across the area, producing hazardous seas across coastal waters. Conditions have improved some this afternoon for portions of coastal waters, but still remain at cautionary levels for the next few days with the strong high pressure remaining in control. Additionally, the persistent ne flow may produce low water levels in tampa bay and potentially charlotte harbor, making navigation more hazardous for mariners at times of low tide. Conditions begin improving by mid- week.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 240 PM EST Sun Mar 7 2021

DISCUSSION. As a positively-tilted trough axis propagates off the east coast of the United States, a ridge axis is settling in over the central Plains. This is leading to negative vorticity advection and cold air advection across the state; these are strong indicators that the air is sinking. Indeed, we can physically see this taking place. Satellite imagery continues to show a lack of clouds over much of the country, reinforcing this inclination. With the surface high pressure feature situated off to the east of the upper-level ridge axis, the ridge is intensifying, locking in this weather pattern for the next several days.

Our weather looks rather gorgeous for the week ahead. The next couple days remain on the cool and breezy side. A gradual moderating trend takes place throughout the week, bringing 80s back into the forecast for afternoon highs as the weekend approaches. This will occur as winds shift from NE to E then SE this weekend, slowly filtering in more moisture and warmer air across the peninsula. However, there are no other weather systems on the horizon for the next week. Everything looks quiet, beautiful, and dry for the next seven days.

AVIATION. VFR prevails with high pressure in control. Due to the position and tight pressure gradient of the high, winds remain out of the NE and gustier at times, particularly during the daytime hours.

MARINE. With a strong area of high pressure in control, gusty NE winds remain across coastal waters. These winds have subsided some across northern coastal waters, Tampa Bay, and Charlotte Harbor, but only to cautionary levels. Winds are still elevated enough across nearshore and offshore waters from Tarpon Springs to Bonita Beach, and look to remain so through tomorrow. After that, all winds subside to cautionary levels, but will potentially increase overnight with easterly surges coming off the land. Winds look to drop below cautionary levels by mid-week.

FIRE WEATHER. Drier air has filtered in across the region, and RH values have dropped below critical thresholds. Winds are a bit breezier today as well, but ERC values do not meet critical thresholds at this time. As moisture begins to return and winds subside some over land over the next couple days, concerns for red flag warnings subside, and concerns remain low through the rest of the forecast period.
