Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 232 PM EDT Tue Oct 19 2021

. High Dispersions Expected On Wednesday .

DISCUSSION. High pressure over the Southeastern U.S. will gradually shift east into the Atlantic late in the week and into the weekend. The high will continue to support pleasant dry weather with an easterly wind flow over the entire forecast area through Wednesday. As the high shifts eastward a slow increase in moisture and rain chances is expected, first across southwest Florida with isolated shower chances on Thursday, then isolated to scattered shower chances (Pops 20-40% north to south) all areas on Friday, with additional rain chances on Saturday as a cold front approaches and moves into the area.

During Sunday into Monday the front will stall out across the southern peninsula with chances for showers continuing across the forecast area with the highest rain chances (Pops 40-50%) focusing across southwest Florida in the vicinity of the stalled front and where the best available moisture will reside. On Tuesday high pressure with drier air will build in over the area with lower rain chances expected north into central areas, with a chance of some showers continuing across southwest Florida. The cooler temperatures of late will moderate back to above seasonal norms with overnight lows returning into the upper 60s to lower 70s, with daytime highs climbing into the upper 80s each afternoon.

AVIATION. VFR will prevail during the next 24 hours. East winds around 10 knots this afternoon will diminish to 5 to 7 knots after 01Z tonight, then increase again to 7 to 10 knots after 14Z on Wednesday.

MARINE. High pressure across the Southeastern U.S. will maintain an easterly wind flow over the Gulf waters through the remainder of the week as the highs slides slowly east into the Atlantic. Evening easterly surges to Cautionary levels (15-20 knot range) will continue tonight through Wednesday night before the gradient relaxes, with lighter east to southeast winds with an afternoon onshore sea breeze returning for Thursday and Friday. On Saturday a weak cold front will move south through the waters with some showers along and ahead of it, with the front then stalling out across the southern waters on Sunday with shower chances continuing over the central and southern waters through Monday.

FIRE WEATHER. Moderate 20 foot winds and transport winds combined with high mixing heights will support high dispersions across the region the remainder of the afternoon, and again Wednesday afternoon. A slow increase in moisture and rain chances is expected on Thursday and Friday and continuing into the upcoming weekend with no other fire weather concerns expected at this time.
