Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Melbourne FL 1013 PM EDT Thu Jun 4 2020

DISCUSSION.

Rest of Tonight . Thunderstorm and shower activity have largely come to an end this evening, with just some lingering light rainfall across portions of the area. Additional areas of light rain and a few redeveloping showers will still be possible into tonight, but otherwise any additional heavier rainfall looks unlikely overnight. Skies will remain cloudy to mostly cloudy, with temperatures persisting in the low to mid 70s.

Friday-Saturday . (Previous Discussion) Deep moisture (precipitable water around 2") remains entrenched across the area to finish the work week and to start the weekend. Combining with positive vorticity advection in the flow aloft along with isentropic ascent, high rain chances continue, especially in the late morning to early evening hours. Southerly steering flow will increase through the period, and this is expected to prevent showers/storms from remaining over particular areas for long durations. However, with such deep moisture, the showers and storms will again be efficient rain makers still capable of producing 1-3" of rain in a short time span, only worsening conditions for areas that have received excess rainfall in recent days. PoPs span 60-70% each day across the area, and a few storms could become strong on Saturday, but details are uncertain. Max temps in the low to mid 80s, and lows will be in the lower to mid 70s.

AVIATION. VFR conditions largely in place across the area this evening, but could see some lower stratus develop producing MVFR/locally IFR cigs overnight as some of the MOS guidance is showing. Some areas of light rain and a few redeveloping showers possible overnight, but otherwise better potential for IFR/MVFR conditions will be with scattered showers/storms that redevelop across the area tomorrow.

MARINE. Southerly winds around 15 knots will continue through late evening over the offshore waters from the Cape northward, with winds then decreasing to 5-10 knots overnight. Seas will range from 2-4 feet.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
