DISCUSSION
Issued at 430 AM EDT Wed Apr 23 2025 A nice night is ongoing across the Florida Keys. KBYX radar is not detecting any shower activity and GOES East Nighttime Microphysics shows mostly low level cumulus migrating from east to west across the Florida Keys. There are also some high level cirrus clouds slowly propagating from west to east. Temperatures along the Island Chain are in the mid 70s with dew points in the mid to upper 60s. Deep mean layer ridging remains anchored off the Southeast U.S. coastline this morning. This is leading to marine platforms around the Keys observing mainly easterly breezes near 15 knots and Island Chain communities observing 10 to 15 mph.
FORECAST
Deep mean layer ridging will continue to be the name of the game through the remainder of the week and into the weekend as it remains off the Southeast U.S. coastline. This ridge will continue to sit and meander for the next several days. This will lend to similar weather conditions through the period. Temperatures will remain fairly constant with daytime highs in the lower 80s with the potential for some mid 80 degree readings and overnight lows in the mid 70s. Dew points will also remain quite steady in the mid to upper 60s for the next several days. With the high remaining in a weakened state for about the next 24 hours, the Island Chain will mainly endure northeast to east breezes of 10 to 15 mph, increasing to near 15 mph tonight but remaining below breezy conditions. This high will re- strengthen once again beginning Thursday leading to another period of breezy conditions starting Thursday afternoon continuing through Friday night. The high will once again weaken heading into the weekend dropping the winds back down to light to moderate breezes. Regarding moisture, a slight increase is expected heading into Thursday leading to slight chances (10%) creeping back into the forecast. A deeper surge in moisture as well as a modest increase in instability is anticipated for Thursday night leading to the introduction of thunder this forecast package. This has also led to an increase in PoPs from 10% --> 20%. Any thunderstorm is expected to remain isolated in nature.
Moisture begins to wane for Saturday but 10% remains. Another surge of drier air is expected to rotate around the southern periphery of the deep mean layer ridge leading to another dry period for Saturday night through Sunday night. Another slight increase in moisture is anticipated for early next week leading to a return of slight chances (10%).
MARINE
Issued at 430 AM EDT Wed Apr 23 2025 There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect across the Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, gentle to moderate mainly easterly breezes are expected today as high pressure remains anchored over the western North Atlantic. Breezes are expected to freshen and shift to the northeast to east tonight as the high shifts slightly west and subtly strengthens.
Breezes modestly slacken one more time for overnight into Thursday morning before another prolonged surge in breezes is anticipated for Thursday afternoon through Friday night. Small Craft Advisories likely will be required as a result for this time frame. The high weakens over the weekend leading to slackening breezes.

Near- surface easterly winds 9 to 12 knots will modestly freshen Wednesday night, with occasional gusts near 20 knots possible.
