DISCUSSION
Issued at 952 AM EST Mon Dec 4 2023 After some early morning patchy fog, the fog has mixed out for the Keys with any residual areas of fog remaining over the Southwest Florida mainland. A weak frontal boundary is draped from northeast to southwest across the Florida Peninsula extending from near the Space Coast to the Tampa area and then out into the central Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures across the Island Chain are in the mid to upper 70s with dew points in the mid to upper 70s.
This also resulted in plenty of dew this morning across the Keys as the air is saturated. Winds remain light and variable across the Keys and marine platforms as the high pressure driving our winds the last few days has left the Keys in weak synoptic scale flow (col region).
The 12z RAOB this morning is dry through much of the atmosphere with only the surface having the most moisture resulting in the dew formation and patchy fog earlier. Therefore, not expecting any changes to the ongoing forecast, though, will keep an eye out for any potential cloud line that may try to form later today with weak west to southwest flow. There are high clouds streaming overhead that may inhibit this but will keep an eye on it.
MARINE
Issued at 952 AM EST Mon Dec 4 2023 There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect across the Florida Keys coastal waters. A second, much stronger cold front will push through the coastal waters late Tuesday or early Wednesday, with fresh northerly breezes expected in its wake. AVIATION
(15Z TAFS)
Issued at 952 AM EST Mon Dec 4 2023 While VFR conditions will prevail at the terminals for most of the TAF period, brief bouts of sub-VFR CIGS are possible as a weak frontal boundary pushes through the island chain early this afternoon. Light and variable surface winds will back to the northwest to north and freshen in the wake of the front.
