Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 248 PM EST Sun Jan 26 2020

DISCUSSION. We have had a beautiful day across the area with plenty of sunshine, light winds and temperatures in the 60's. As we head into our Monday a weak low in the Gulf of Mexico will start to push through the state. The system does not look all to impressive with rotation only seen on the surface with a trough aloft and PWs only reaching around 1.00 to 1.10. For us this will result in an overcast day with isolated showers possible but for right now it looks like most of us will be staying dry.

Tuesday will be another nice day with high pressure in control. An upper level trough will push through on Wednesday which will once again bring us cloud cover and a small chance of rain. Thursday will be another quiet day before another low pressure system will head our way on Friday.

Right now timing of frontal passage looks to be Friday night or early Saturday. However, showers will be ahead of the front so most of the rain will be throughout the day on Friday. Still not looking like a washout with 40 to 50 PoPs across the area.

AVIATION. VFR conditions expected through the period. Winds will remain light and variable through much of the period with northeast wind possible in the afternoon and evening. Winds will shift to the southeast late in the period.

MARINE. High pressure will be in control for the rest of the day with northeast winds as the high pressures starts to shift east. Winds will remain at 10 knots or lower for today and tonight. A weak surface low will push through the state on Monday which will shift winds to the south and bring some isolated showers over the waters. Wind are expected to stay below criteria for much of the work week.

FIRE WEATHER. For our Sunday RHs will be hovering around 35 percent in the afternoon but winds will be light so no red flag will be needed. After that RH will be well above criteria for the beginning of next work week.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
