Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 1016 AM EST Wed Jan 27 2021

UPDATE. High pressure ridges over Florida for the first half of the day before a weak cold front moves through later this evening. Rainfall will be limited with this front with only a slight chance of showers for the area. The 12Z morning sounding is showing a sharp inversion around 900 mb supporting widespread dense fog and low clouds this morning. Conditions will improve this afternoon as the front approaches the area clearing out most of the fog and low stratus clouds. Temperatures will be well above average today topping out in the mid 70's to low 80's. Forecast looks good for now with no changes needed.

AVIATION. Areas of dense fog and low clouds have been a big concern at all terminals this morning, but is expected to slightly improve over the next hour or two. MVFR conditions for lingering low clouds will stick around through this afternoon, then becoming VFR through the remainder of the period. Southwest winds around 5-10 knots expected today ahead of a cold front expected to move through later today. Winds will shift to the W and then NW in the wake of this front by early Thursday morning and will increase to around 15 knots with higher gusts.

MARINE. Interaction between high pressure extending over Florida and a cold front that is expected to move through later today will keep a SW wind flow around 10-15 knots through the evening. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerous of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
