Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 236 PM EDT Sun May 10 2026
New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER
KEY MESSAGES
- Late night/early morning patchy fog and low clouds will be possible the next few days.
- Temperatures will continue to run several degrees above climatic normal.
- Afternoon and evening storm chances today for the northern Nature Coast and interior before area wide chances with a frontal boundary late Monday and Tuesday.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 235 PM EDT Sun May 10 2026 A frontal boundary remains stationary over northern Florida this afternoon as a moist southwest flow continues aloft. A few showers have formed over the Gulf and moved inland, but most convection is expected inland and over toward the east coast as we head through the rest of the afternoon and evening. An upper-level disturbance will then move over the boundary Monday into Tuesday, with the front slowly shifting southward. This will allow for an increase in rain chances through the middle part of the week, but the highest PoPs will still be for inland areas as onshore boundary layer flow continues. High pressure then builds in for the end of the week and into next weekend, with warmer and drier conditions expected.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 235 PM EDT Sun May 10 2026 VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period. There remains a chance for some showers for KLAL this afternoon, but most activity should remain east of the terminals.
MARINE
Issued at 235 PM EDT Sun May 10 2026 Southwest winds continue across the waters through tonight with no headlines expected. A frontal boundary will drop southward over the region for Monday and Tuesday, with increasing shower and thunderstorm activity especially Monday night, though activity will generally move inland through the day. Rain chances are then lower for the rest of the week with winds and seas remaining below headlines.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 235 PM EDT Sun May 10 2026 No Red Flag concerns as relative humidity values will remain above critical levels. No significant fog is expected.
