AVIATION. 16/06Z. VFR conditions prevail as SKC gives way to FEW-SCT. Light easterly/VRBL winds become SE . with SSW at northern coastal terminals . at no more than 11kt.

Prev Discussion. /issued 657 PM EST Sun Dec 15 2019/

UPDATE . Today has been a very quiet weather day, with mostly clear skies and comfortable conditions. Tonight will continue to be nice, with cool overnight lows and generally clear skies. In fact, tonight is a great setup for significant radiational cooling. Despite daytime highs climbing into the upper 70s to low 80s, temperatures will cool down into the 50s and low 60s widespread, with some isolated spots perhaps reaching the upper 40s. Temperatures are already beginning to cool fairly quickly. Observations suggest that much of the area has already dropped into the 60s, and some northern locations may already be in the upper 50s. Temperatures will rather quickly continue to fall for the next couple hours before slowing. Minimum temperatures should occur right around dawn before quickly warming back up into the 80s once again tomorrow.

Weather conditions will remain quiet for Monday before the next front arrives in our doorstep Tuesday brining rain back into the forecast and then another cool-down for mid-week. The rapidly cooling surface, high dewpoints, and calm winds tomorrow night ahead of the front make for potential patchy fog across the peninsula tomorrow night. Otherwise, the forecast remains on track and no significant changes have been made.

MARINE . Quiet boating conditions continue with fairly light winds and seas through Monday. Conditions begin to deteriorate Tuesday as another front approaches the state . brining rain, higher winds, and higher seas back into the forecast for mid-week.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
