Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 741 AM EDT Sun May 31 2020

AVIATION. VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period. Most convection should be east of the terminals this afternoon, but there is still the possibility of a storm or two impacting mainly KLAL. Light winds will become onshore with the sea breeze later today.

Prev Discussion. /issued 402 AM EDT Sun May 31 2020/

DISCUSSION . A weak cold front will be draped over north Florida today. This will push the ridge into south Florida and shift our winds to a more southwest and west direction. This will bring lower rain showers chances especially along the coast. Highest rain shower chances will be inland and along the eastern half of the state.

The front will be pushing through the area on Monday. This time of year a front will not be effecting our temperatures to much. What it will do is bring some drier air across the area and shift our winds to a more northeasterly direction. This will keep shower chances confined to areas south of I-4 through Wednesday.

Winds will shift to the southeast on Thursday and moisture will increase across the area. This will increase rain showers chances for the end of the work week and into the weekend.

AVIATION . VFR conditions expected through the period. VCTS should stay east of all the terminal except for RSW. Winds will be light through the morning with a sea breeze starting in the afternoon hours.

MARINE . Showers and thunderstorms should mainly stay on land for our Sunday and should be a nice day to be out on the waters. A weak cold front will push through on Monday and switch our winds to an east and northeast direction. Winds will also pick up behind the front and SCEC will be possible Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

FIRE WEATHER . Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through the rest of today and into the overnight hours. High pressure and drier air will return quickly for the work week. However, critical RHs are not expected.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

Privacy Policy:
I do not sell or share any user data or anything else for that matter. The only personal information I save is in the site log which has a line for each page view which includes the IP address your browser sends in the header as well as which page you requested. I use this to block hackers and other bad actors. I do not use this raw data to create profiles on users. I periodically delete the log files. Disclaimer:
The information on this web site has not been checked for accuracy. It is for entertainment purposes only and should be independently verified before using for any other reason. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerous of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
