Aviation
We continue to remain in a very moist and unstable southwest flow
through the day. Shra with embedded tsra can be expected through the
forecast period with southwest winds around 5-10 knots. The highest
rain storm chances will be from ksrq northward with brief periods of
MVFR ifr conditions possible through this afternoon, so will hold
vcts through 00z and will closely monitor radar for needed tempo
changes through the day.

discussion...

prolonged SW flow and heavy rain event coming to an end this weekend.

The persistent weak upper low over the NE gulf to slowly but finally
move eastward in overall upper flow by Sunday but leave a weakness
in the upper ridge in place. Stalled front in the deep south and high
pressure ridge axis over S fl peninsula and SE gulf this morning to
provide moist low to mid level SW flow, increased instability and
focusing mechanism for additional heavy rainfall over the nature
coast to extend flood watch into this evening. The prolonged SW flow
over the E gulf has produced choppy waves for increased risk of rip
currents along area beaches today while minor coastal flooding
continues especially around high tides today. These hazards to
decrease and improve this evening and Sunday.

The regime change transition continues Sunday as surface high pressure
ridge continues slow movement nward to over the c fl peninsula
and frontal boundary washes out. Highest rain chances over N nature
coast and inland on seabreeze interactions. Temps return to around
seasonal averages.

Next week, the general weakness in the southern stream upper ridge
over the area continues while northern stream activity stays well
n of the region. Surface high pressure extends from the W atlantic
into the deep south with e-se flow over the area for a more typical
summertime temps and diurnal sea breeze rain pattern.

Aviation...

light to moderate s-sw flow continues with sct E gulf convection to
push vcsh vcts ashore this morning through the afternoon with mainly
vrf conditions and mid-upper clouds at terminals. Some brief and
local MVFR ifr conditions possible with stronger cells.

Marine...

tightened pressure gradient in NE gulf this morning between stalled
front and high pressure ridge axis moving northward from the S gulf
to keep SW scec winds and choppy seas into this afternoon. High
pressure weakens and holds over the region Sunday into mid next week
with lighter winds and seas. Continue to expect summertime showers
and thunderstorms to bring locally higher winds and seas.

Fire weather...

abundant moisture with high summertime humidity and rain chances
continue.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
