Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 220 PM EST Fri Dec 6 2019

DISCUSSION. A short wave trough will pass by to the north of the forecast area tonight with a weak surface low reflection and cold front lingering across the northeast Gulf through Saturday. Some low shower chances (Pops around 20%) will be possible mainly across the northern Gulf waters and Levy county during Saturday and early Saturday night associated with these features, otherwise pleasant dry weather will continue through Sunday as the weak low washes out and surface high pressure builds down the eastern seaboard through the period.

During Monday and Tuesday high pressure from the Atlantic extending southwest across the central peninsula will maintain dry weather with a southeast to southerly wind flow supporting warmer temperatures. Another cold front will approach from the west Tuesday night with the front moving south through the region during Tuesday night and early on Wednesday. Limited moisture accompany this next front should keep overall rain chances on the low side (Pops 20-30%) with its passage. Breezy dry pleasant weather will return Wednesday night through Friday as strong surface high pressure builds in along the eastern seaboard.

After one more night of cool temperatures tonight with lows falling into the mid 40s across the Nature Coast, and upper 40s to lower 50s central and south moderating temperatures can be expected as we move into the weekend and into early next week with overnight lows in the 50s and 60s from north to south with daytime highs in mid to upper 70s during the weekend, and then upper 70s to lower 80s during Monday and Tuesday, before falling back to near normal during Thursday and Friday in the wake of the front.

AVIATION. VFR will prevail during the next 24 hours. Light and variable winds will become west at 6 to 8 knot through the remainder of the afternoon. Light and variable winds will return after 00Z tonight, then northeast winds around 5 knots are expected after 14Z on Saturday becoming west at the coastal sites during the afternoon.

MARINE. A weak area of low pressure will move into the Gulf on Saturday bringing with it a chance of some showers, especially across the northern waters. This low will weaken and dissipate on Sunday as surface high pressure builds down the eastern seaboard. The high will move east into the Atlantic early next week with the ridge axis extending back to the southwest across the central waters with a light southeast to southerly wind flow expected. A cold front will approach the northern waters late Tuesday and then move south through the waters Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Southwest winds ahead of the front will shift to the northwest and north in the wake of the front on Wednesday with an uptick in speeds to near Cautionary or low end Small Craft levels as the gradient tightens in responds to strong surface high pressure building in over the lower Mississippi valley and southeastern states.

FIRE WEATHER. Humidity values are forecast to remain above critical levels through the upcoming weekend with no Red Flag conditions expected.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
