Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 207 AM EST Sat Feb 27 2021

DISCUSSION. Near record warmth with humid conditions this weekend as upper ridging from the N Carib builds over the E Gulf and FL Peninsula while surface high pressure from the W Atlantic remains stretched over the area. Increased southerly low level flow combined with rising heights aloft to produce daytime high temps in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees over interior and southern areas. Only break from the heat will be along the immediate coast with afternoon seabreezes bringing cooler shelf water air into those locations.

The mid/upper-level ridge is expected to flatten slightly and sink southward early next week, as a shortwave moves well N of the area. A weak surface frontal system is progged to slowly move through the Gulf and Deep South as upper support moves out allowing the system hang in the region Tue-Thu with a low end chance for some showers, a few thunderstorms, and mainly above normal temps. Models differences continue with this weak system and forecast for late week as well.

AVIATION. Mainly VFR conditions to continue with some SCT locally BKN cigs AOA 4-5k ft and localized patchy fog this morning. Increasing southerly flow today with afternoon seabreeze to keep the SCT locally BKN cigs AOA 4-5k ft.

MARINE. High pressure remains stretched over the region from the W Atlantic with light to moderate SE-SW winds and seas 2-3 ft or less through the weekend and into Mon. A weak frontal system is expected to move through the E Gulf waters Tue through mid week with slight rain chances. Winds and seas are expected to remain below headlines.

FIRE WEATHER. Very warm and humid conditions to continue on southerly winds through the weekend with overnight patchy fog possible in typical fog prone areas. Localized high afternoon dispersion possible as well.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerous of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
