DISCUSSION
Issued at 327 AM EDT Wed Apr 30 2025
Upper ridging extends from the southwestern gulf northeastward through the southeast U.S. and into the western Atlantic. On the surface, broad high pressure centered between the Carolinas and Bermuda ridges southwest across northern Florida and into the northeast gulf. Some slightly drier air will advect into the region today and Thursday with PWAT values dropping below 1 inch. This will equate to near zero rain chances for today and Thursday. This upper ridge and surface high will slowly move eastward and will remain the dominant weather feature through the end of the week. This will keep a predominant easterly wind flow over the Florida peninsula with an onshore sea breeze setting up each afternoon along the immediate coastline.
A slight uptick in moisture will move into the area on Friday with PWAT values back up to 1.0 - 1.3 inches, but showers and storms will still be limited to around 10-20 percent at best. Moisture continues to increase on Saturday and Sunday with PWAT values back up around 1.3 - 1.6 inches, which will equate to even higher shower and storm chances to around 30-60 percent over the weekend and into the first half of next week. Daytime highs will top out in the mid 80's close to the coast and upper 80's to low 90's elsewhere. Overnight lows will drop into the low 60's to around 70 each night.
AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 327 AM EDT Wed Apr 30 2025
VFR and rain-free conditions will prevail through the forecast period. Winds will generally remain out of the east during the period, except close the coast as the sea breeze sets up. This will likely be limited to only TPA/PIE/SRQ with all the other TAF sites remaining a predominant easterly flow.
MARINE
Issued at 327 AM EDT Wed Apr 30 2025
A predominant northeast through southeast wind flow will prevail over the eastern gulf waters as high pressure to the northeast ridges across Florida and into the gulf. An onshore flow can be expected close to the coast each afternoon as the sea breeze sets up. Low rain chances expected for today and Thursday, then rain chances gradually increase Friday and into the weekend. Winds will generally stay 15 knots or less and seas around 1-3 feet through the period with no headlines expected.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 327 AM EDT Wed Apr 30 2025
Some drier air will filter into the region today and Thursday with some pockets of critical RH values at or below 35 percent possible.
Winds are expected to stay below 15 mph, so not Red Flag Warning should be needed. Moisture increases on Friday and into the weekend as does the rain and storm chances. No other fire weather concerns expected.
