Prev Discussion. /issued 136 PM EST Thu Mar 4 2021/
.LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY TOMORROW. .CLOUDY AND RAINY SATURDAY EXPECTED.
DISCUSSION . Yesterday's cold front has advected some relatively cooler and drier air into the region as we continue to experience generally north wind. It'll be a great feeling next 24 hours with overnight lows in the mid 40s north to low/mid 50s south of Pasco county. Tomorrow will be warm with highs ranging from the mid 70s to around 80. The difference is much lower dewpoints. While this will be a consideration for our fire partners due to min RH values in the 30% range, the lower humidity will allow it to be more tolerable outside.
Models remain in good agreement with developing an area of surface low pressure in the Gulf as we head into the weekend, in response to a digging trough through the Mississippi Valley. As this low traverses east across a frontal boundary, isentropic ascent through the low/mid levels will allow for adiabatic cooling/moistening over the Peninsula. The result? Lots of clouds and rain. Now, a caveat to a rain event like this is where exactly the heaviest band of stratiform rainfall occurs on Sat. At this time, it seems the greatest chances will be along & north of the I-4 corridor. But solid rain chances will be in place across all of the CWA because diurnal surface heating south of the boundary will still allow some pop up convection during the day - outside the stratiform rain. In the southern portion, instability won't be nonexistent - but it will still be very low. Therefore, will only mention a slight chance of thunder in the far southern portions of the CWA .
High temperatures on Saturday will also be affected by where the greatest cloud cover and rainfall occurs. Nevertheless, am going with a cooler model blend which gives us low to mid 70s across Southwest FL, with locations north of I-4 topping out in the low to mid 60s. Would not be surprised to see decent variability between the forecast and observed highs, however .
Behind this disturbance, high pressure builds back into the region. A tight pressure gradient will keep breezy conditions around through the early part of next week with mostly rain free days. Boating looks to somewhat unfavorable as offshore winds look to hover between 15-20 knots from Sunday through Wednesday - resulting in rough seas. The persistent northeast wind fetch down Tampa Bay will possibly lower water levels a foot or more below MLLW in the northern part of the bay during low tide on Monday. Keep this in mind if boating in shallow water . Temps will also gradually warm back up with the possibility of low to mid 80s by the middle of next week.
MARINE . Mainly northerly winds through the overnight hours with winds AOB 15 knots. Winds shift out of the east during the first half of the day before turning onshore due to the development of an afternoon sea breeze. An area of low pressure will approach the Eastern Gulf waters on Saturday bringing high rain chances for much of the day. As high pressure builds back in early next week, breezy northeast winds will result in cautionary or or advisory level .
FIRE WEATHER . RH values will fall near or below critical values tomorrow afternoon. High mixing heights with elevated northeast transport winds will result in very good dispersions. However, east to northeast 20ft winds winds below 10 mph will preclude the necessity for any Red Flag Warnings. A high chance for wetting rain returns Saturday.
