GMZ800 Synopsis For The Coastal Waters From Bonita Beach To Suwannee River- 251 Pm Est Tue Jan 28 2020
Synopsis..High pressure will shift east into the atlantic tonight. During Wednesday a weak area of low pressure will move east across the northern gulf coast during the day and then across the north central florida peninsula Wednesday night bringing with it increasing chances for showers across the waters. High pressure will again build in during Thursday with dry weather returning, but this will be short lived as another potentially stronger storm system with increasing winds and rain chances affects the waters Friday through early Saturday. Wind and seas should remain below 15 knots and 5 feet through early Saturday, but potentially higher wind and seas will be possible during Saturday night into Sunday in the wake of the second storm system as high pressure builds in from the west.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 758 PM EST Tue Jan 28 2020

UPDATE. KTBW sounding from this evening sampled a very well mixed layer up to about 880mb. This allowed many of us to climb into the lower 70s but also dry out as dewpoints dipped into the 30s north of I-4. This dry air is helping us cool off rather quickly after sunset as clear skies prevail over much of the area at the moment. Overnight, boundary layer decoupling will continue to occur and light winds with these clear skies will help parts of the Nature Coast fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s. Models suggest a pocket of cirrus may intrude into the area prior to sunrise and if this occurs, cooling should slow or halt. However, temps may fall a little more than currently forecast if cirrus does not develop or it remains thin. For this evening update, a slight nudge downward in low temps was made to give a nod to the expected radiational cooling and align closer to the most recent statistical guidance.

AVIATION. Prevailing VFR through the period with mostly clear skies across northern terminals for much of the night. BKN cigs around 040 possible after 03Z from PGD southward. Northeast winds tonight will shift to southeast by mid-morning, then eventually southwest tomorrow afternoon. VCSH in TAFs from SRQ northward after 19Z with rain possibly spreading farther south later in the evening.

MARINE. Easterly winds will gradually become southerly before shifting out of the northwest on Thursday as a surface low moves across the northeast Gulf waters late on Wednesday. This low will bring a chance for showers into the overnight hours. A stronger low will move into the region Friday into Saturday with marine hazards possible, especially behind the system as high pressure builds in across the Gulf bringing elevated northwest winds.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

I do not sell or share any user data or anything else for that matter. The only personal information I save is in the site log which has a line for each page view which includes the IP address your browser sends in the header as well as which page you requested. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
