FXUS62 KTBW 251743 AFDTBW
Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 143 PM EDT Thu Jun 25 2026
New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER
KEY MESSAGES
- Daily maximum heat index values of 100-107 degrees continue areawide.
- Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms through the remainder of the week mainly interior and southwest.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 140 PM EDT Thu Jun 25 2026
A little extra moisture today, thanks to a stationary front draped across north Florida, has lead to a little earlier development of showers and storms today. Highest chances for the remainder of the day will likely be over the interior and SWFL. Developing storms could have the potential for strong, gusty winds as well as frequent lightning and heavy downpours. Conditions clear overnight. By Friday the stationary boundary washes out, replaced by high pressure dominating the pattern once again. Friday conditions will still favor showers and storms over the interior and swfl. However, winds are expected to shift more easterly by Saturday as the high pressure center pushes north of the area. With the wind shift, some relief for the west coast could arrive, as rain chances increase towards the coast in the afternoons. Luckily this pattern is expected to stick around into the first half of next week.
Temperatures and humidity levels will remain high. With heat indices reaching into the triple digits each day.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 140 PM EDT Thu Jun 25 2026
Overall VFR conditions expected. Only exception will be the development of showers and storms near TAF sites. Storms will likely remain east of most sites, however a few storms could move into the vicinity of LAL, and SWFL terminals.
MARINE
Issued at 140 PM EDT Thu Jun 25 2026
Mostly pleasant boating conditions persist into the weekend with winds less than 10kts and seas around 2 ft or less.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 140 PM EDT Thu Jun 25 2026
Though conditions remain hot, and mostly dry, fire weather concerns remain low. RH values will stay above critical values.
