- Elevated heat index values later in the week, especially along and east of I-35 and across most of the Rio Grande plains.
SHORT TERM
(Tonight through Wednesday night)

The subtropical ridge is back over Texas. The low level flow continues to be from the southeast across South-Central Texas and the airmass over our CWA remains warm and moist with temperatures and dewpoints within a couple of degrees of where they were 24 hours ago. The subtropical ridge will strengthen over the next 24 hours and the low level flow will continue from the southeast. The upper ridge will suppress any convection. Temperatures will be steady through the short term. Lows Wednesday and Thursday will be about the same in the low to mid 70s. Highs Wednesday will be about the same as today in the 90s. Dewpoints will be a few degrees lower than the last several days and heat indices will be mostly below 100 degrees.
LONG TERM
(Thursday through next Tuesday)
Issued at 1257 PM CDT Tue Jun 23 2026
The subtropical ridge will continue to dominate over the region through the rest of the week. The low level flow will also continue from the southeast.
