sea fog will continue to be a concern across the nearshore legs from okaloosa-walton to keaton beach through at least Monday afternoon. Otherwise, light east winds prevail to kick off the work week. New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE

NEAR TERM
/Through Tonight/...
Issued at 131 AM EST Mon Mar 4 2024

For the latest NE FL and SE GA Daily Key Messages please visit: https:// www.weather.gov/media/jax/briefings/nws-jax-briefing.pdf

High pressure ridge will extend down the east coast Today, as area of low pressure exits to the northeast. Low level moisture has resulted in fog development, which will linger into the morning hours. The moist marine layer along the coast will keep fog there longer.

In general, cloudy skies will prevail Today, but a few breaks of sunshine inland possible.

Well inland this afternoon the combination of diurnal heating, ample moisture, and a weak upper disturbance will result in a few showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will be above normal Today for much of the area, with inland highs in the mid to upper 70s. At the coast however, the combination of onshore flow across the relatively cooler waters and persistent low clouds and fog will keep temperatures lower. Highs at the coast in the mid to upper 60s will be common.

For Tonight, the high becomes centered a little more to the north northeast. Low level moisture will result in another round of fog near the coast. The densest fog may not extend as far inland this next night as Tonight, as the gradient will begin to tighten ahead of approaching low pressure system. This should result in better mixing well inland. Skies will be mainly cloudy with lows ranging from the mid to upper 50s SE GA, to the upper 50s to lower 60s NE FL.

SHORT TERM
(Tuesday through Wednesday night)
Issued at 131 AM EST Mon Mar 4 2024

A large area of showers and embedded t-storms over the NE Gulf of Mexico will spread E and NE across the western counties of se GA and the nw FL peninsula by late morning, and across forecast area Tuesday afternoon and night.
Latest guidance suggests precip will clear from W to E prior to dawn Wed, ahead of a weak cold front that will move across the forecast area Wednesday while washing out. Not expecting any cooling from this front...in fact temperatures may be slightly warmer Wed with more sun expected.

LONG TERM
(Thursday through Sunday)
Issued at 131 AM EST Mon Mar 4 2024

Westerly flow aloft Thursday will become more WSW flow Friday given developing system over lower MS Valley region. System will gradually move eastward through the Weekend bringing a chance of rain to se GA Friday and Friday night, extending across forecast area Saturday into early Sunday. A cold front will move southward across the area Sunday, bringing cooler conditions. Until then, above normal temperatures are expected.

AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1109 PM EST Sun Mar 3 2024

Dense fog and low stratus will prevail through the night, then slowly lift Monday morning. Conditions may bounce a bit at times overnight, but for most of the night the low visibility and stratus will prevail.
Not expecting conditions to lift to VFR during the day Monday, and lowering conditions will be expected again for Monday night.

MARINE
Issued at 131 AM EST Mon Mar 4 2024
