UPDATE
Issued at 1011 PM EDT Mon Apr 21 2025
The forecast is tracking well, so no changes were needed to the forecast.
NEAR TERM
(Through Tuesday)
Issued at 226 PM EDT Mon Apr 21 2025
High amplitude upper ridge will remain in place along the eastern seaboard overnight, with low-level southerly flow gradually moistening the boundary layer underneath a dry airmass aloft. This will allow for patchy fog formations tonight, especially along the I- 1-10 corridor in the Florida Panhandle.
For Tuesday, the ridge will weaken a bit as a shortwave lifts out of the southern plains into the Tennessee River Valley. This feature may provide just enough lift to trigger a couple of showers and thunderstorms across SE Alabama and western Panhandle during the afternoon. Otherwise, the warm temperatures will continue, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.
SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM
(Tuesday night through Sunday)
Issued at 226 PM EDT Mon Apr 21 2025
Well above average temperatures through this weekend, with morning fog potential, followed by limited chances for diurnally driven showers and brief thunderstorms during the afternoons and evenings.
PWATs will reach 1.5 inches at times through the weekend. Meanwhile, shortwave energy ripples through the modest westerly flow aloft, with enough moisture and instability pooled along the seabreeze boundaries for diurnally driven activity each day. Overall, PoPs are generally limited to the low category, and northwest aloft this weekend may tend to dry things out. The pattern will also favor fog each morning, especially Wednesday.
Lows mainly in the 60s and highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s away from the gulf coast will make for well above normal temperatures.
A high risk of rip currents is also favored at the gulf beaches, despite the nice weather.
AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 140 AM EDT Tue Apr 22 2025
The main focus for overnight into the morning hrs is fog/low stratus. Best potential is still at ECP/TLH with deteriorating flt conds in the 9-13Z timeframe. This cycle has DHN on the fringe of this activity, so the current fcst shows VFR. Trends will be monitored for any possible amendments. Otherwise, lgt/vrb to calm winds prevail until late morning or early aftn when winds turn more southwesterly.

FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 226 PM EDT Mon Apr 21 2025
Warm and mostly dry conditions will continue across the region through the next several days as high pressure remains in place.
Minimum humidity values will fall into the mid 30s the new few afternoon. Outside of a few stray showers in SE Alabama and the Panhandle on Tuesday, and SE Alabama and SW Georgia on Wednesday, significant rainfall is not expected. With high mixing heights and generally light winds, moderate with pockets of high dispersion values are in the forecast.
