SYNOPSIS
Dry and warm weather with some afternoon breezes and occasional high clouds will dominate our weather this week. Winds turn breezy to windy this upcoming weekend, along with cooler temperatures as a system moves to our north.
DISCUSSION
High pressure aloft and dry southwesterly flow will result in a benign weather regime through the end of the work week, with high temperatures 5-8 degrees above normal and typical afternoon/early evening breeziness. Highs will be around 90 degrees in the Tucson Metro Area and in the 80s in the valleys south and east of Tucson.
A system will move to our north over the upcoming weekend into early next week, resulting in cooler temperatures and increased wind speeds. Wind speeds pick up into the breezy category Friday afternoon, with breezy to windy conditions and elevated fire weather conditions Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures lower to near normal Sunday into early next week. Any moisture and precipitation will remain well to our north with this system.

SKC conditions thru the valid forecast period. SFC wind SWLY/WLY at 8-13 kts and gusts to around 20 kts thru 23/02Z. SFC wind between 23/02Z and 23/18Z will be 10 kts or less and variable in direction.
Aft 23/18Z thru the remainder of the forecast period, SFC wind SLY/SWLY at 12-18 kts and gusts to 20-30 kts, with the strongest wind east of KTUS in the vicinity of KALK and KDUG. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments.
FIRE WEATHER
Dry and warm into the upcoming weekend, with highs 5-8 degrees above normal. Occasional high clouds and typical breezes during the afternoon and early evening hours through Thursday with gusts to 25-30 mph. A weather system moving to our north this weekend will result in breezy to windy conditions, resulting in elevated fire weather conditions. Min RH values will be in the single digits in the lower elevations and teens in the mountains, with poor overnight recoveries through the forecast period.
