Night and morning coastal low clouds will spread farther into the valleys for Thursday and Friday with relatively minor day to day changes in high temperatures through Friday. A weak low pressure system from the northwest will bring a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon for the San Bernardino County mountains and adjacent deserts with a slight chance of showers for the same areas on Friday afternoon. A stronger low pressure system from the northwest will bring much cooler weather for the weekend along with a chance of showers for Saturday night into early next week. There will be periods of stronger and gusty winds for the mountains and deserts for the weekend, strongest on Saturday afternoon and night. Slowly warmer for early next week followed by greater drying and warming for the middle of next week.

DISCUSSION
FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)...
Widespread low clouds over the coastal waters extend inland across much of the San Diego County valleys and are spreading into the Inland Empire from the west and south. The low clouds are expected to spread a little farther into the inland valleys for tonight into Thursday morning and for Thursday night into Friday morning.
Not much change in high temperatures is expected for today with Thursday slightly cooler with Friday a few degrees warmer.
A weak low pressure system from the northwest will bring a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms for Thursday afternoon for the San Bernardino County mountains and adjacent deserts with a slight chance of showers on Friday afternoon for the same areas.

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)...
A low pressure system from the northwest will move into southern California during the weekend, then move slowly eastward early next week. Coasts/Valleys
BKN-OVC clouds with bases 0700-1200 ft MSL will impact most of the coastal locations, especially KSAN, KCRQ, KSNA, and KONT. Bases will lower to around 500 ft MSL by 12Z with impacts likely at all coastal TAF sites. Bases rise to 1000- 1200 ft MSL after 14Z. Low clouds and fog could extend up to 20 miles inland with about a 60 percent chance of CIGs and reduced VIS at KONT briefly around 15Z. Vis restrictions are expected where low clouds intersect higher coastal terrain. At least partial clearing expected at the coast between 17Z today and 02Z Thu, then there will likely be a resurgence of low level clouds beginning after 02Z for coastal areas of Orange County initially, and then filling in towards the south thereafter throughout the evening. Bases of around 1000- 1500 ft MSL, will remain around the same height, or slightly rise and thicken by 12Z Thu. This will begin to scatter out and remain out over the coastal waters beginning 16Z Thu.

Mountains/Deserts...Mostly clear skies today through Thu.

MARINE
No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Friday. Gusty west to northwest winds will develop over the coastal waters this weekend, with strongest winds Saturday night and Sunday. Peak gusts of 25 to 30 kt expected. Gale force winds are possible, with a 25 percent chance of winds reaching at least 34 kt in the outer coastal waters near San Clemente Island Saturday night into Sunday morning.

BEACHES
Elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet with sets to 7 feet will occur through today. Highest surf occurred on south facing beaches today and will gradually lower tonight into tomorrow. Strong rip currents are expected, especially today.

SKYWARN
Skywarn activation is not requested. However weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions.

SGX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES
CA...Beach Hazards Statement through this evening for Orange County Coastal Areas.
