New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM

SHORT TERM
(This evening through Monday)
Issued at 202 PM CST Sun Dec 10 2023

Mild weather continues tonight and tomorrow with highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s and lows in the mid 20s to lower 30s. Winds will be light (variable in direction) and skies mostly clear.

Day

LONG TERM
(Monday night through next Saturday)
Issued at 202 PM CST Sun Dec 10 2023

The most significant feature of the long term forecast will be increasing rain chances mid to late week. Ahead of the main system, we'll see some low to moderate rain chances develop across western Oklahoma late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning in response to warm air advection. As the cut-off low approaches western Oklahoma, these moderate rain chances will continue into Thursday. After that, models begin to diverge on the path of the low, some pushing it further south into the heart of Texas (taking rain chances with it)
and some turtling it over the panhandles for a while, allowing low rain chances to extend farther east over the forecast area into the weekend.

Outside of this, mild weather with seasonable temperatures will continue.

Day

AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1124 AM CST Sun Dec 10 2023

VFR conditions are expected at all terminals through the period.
Surface winds are expected to continue turning (while remaining generally light) to the west or southwest at most sites through sunset. Slightly gustier conditions will be found across western Oklahoma (KWWR/KCSM) today.

Safe travels!
