Synopsis
Dry weather with mild days and cool nights continues this week.
Locally breezy Tuesday into Wednesday.
Other than some clouds across far northern California associated with a weak system moving through the west coast ridge, and a few high clouds at times, skies remain mostly clear. Conditions are similar to 24 hours ago with generally light wind over most of the area and cool temperatures. Current readings are mainly in the 20s to lower 30s in the colder mountain locales, 30s across the Central Valley, and lower to mid 40s over the milder foothill and mountain thermal belts.
Little change to the dry pattern expected this week with mild days and cool nights. The Central Valley will see some patchy late night and early morning fog. Pattern amplifies beginning Tuesday as the system deepens a trough to our east. This will result in another round of breezy north to east wind Tuesday into Wednesday.
.EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Friday THROUGH Monday)...
Upper ridge axis over the Intermountain West Friday progged to retrogress over the weekend, slowing progress of upstream closed upper low. Progressive NBM brings precip into the CWA Sunday afternoon while deterministic models hold off precip until Sunday night into Monday. Overall QPF looks light to moderate at this time into Monday with snow levels 6000 to 7000 feet. Highs in the Central Valley expected to be in the low to mid 60s Friday through Sunday, lowering into the mid 50s to lower 60s Monday. Upper 40s to lower 60s expected in the foothills and mountains through Sunday, then 30s to lower 50s Monday.
