DISCUSSION

SYNOPSIS
Normal to near normal temperatures the remainder of this week due to onshore flow, along with dry conditions and periodically breezy onshore winds. Gradual warm-up over the weekend before another slight cool down early next week.

KEY MESSAGES

* Today:

- High temperatures continue to be slightly below normal, with highs running around 2 to 7 degrees below what is expected for this time of year.
- Smoke will continue to impact areas in the vicinity of the Green Fire, though more southerly winds this evening should keep most smoke out of the Valley during the day.
- Locally breezy northerly flow in the northern/central Sacramento Valley and adjacent terrain which may allow smoke from the Green Fire into the Valley, mainly in the overnight through morning timeframe.
- Onshore flow and Delta Breeze influence expected through the weekend, bringing minor cooling and overnight relief to the Delta and adjacent Valley.
- Breezy to gusty southerly winds expected this evening, especially in the vicinity of the Delta.
- Probability of gusts 30 mph or greater this evening: - 10 to 20% in the central and northern Sacramento Valley - 70 to 95% in the Delta and vicinity

* Thursday-Monday:

- Upper level pattern remains largely persistent with broad troughing/northwesterly flow across interior NorCal.
- Near seasonable temperatures continue late in the week, increasing slightly over the weekend, before cooling again early next week.
- Periodically breezy onshore flow expected to persist in the afternoon and evening late this week, shifting toward terrain driven influence during the overnight hours.
- Persistent and periodic late day wind gusts 20 to 30 mph anticipated throughout the Delta and vicinity each day.

Changes from previous forecast
- Minimal changes from the previous forecast.
