A weak cold front emanating from an area of low pressure over eastern Canada is moving across South Florida this morning.
Surface high pressure will build in over the southeastern United States on Saturday creating increased breeziness thanks to a tighter pressure gradient. Drier, cooler air in the wake of the front will provide for a rain-free weekend. Maximum temperatures on Saturday will be a few degrees cooler ranging from the mid to upper 70s. Most areas will cool down into the 50s on Saturday night/Sunday morning except for the east coast urban heat island which will remain in the 60s as the surface wind flow begins to gain an easterly component off the Atlantic. Temperatures on Sunday will be a few degrees warmer than Saturday with a maximum in the upper 70s across most of the area.
LONG TERM
(Sunday night through Friday)

A mid-level low is advancing the eastern two-thirds of the United States Sunday into Monday morning. Through the day on Monday, the low will be reabsorbed back into the deamplifying longwave trough which will cause the surface boundary to stall around the northern Gulf coast until another mid-level impulse goes from South Texas to the Carolinas Monday into Tuesday. A warming and moistening trend will take hold across South Florida through mid- week. The front will enter Florida's panhandle but struggle to reach the peninsula until an amplifying longwave trough moves across the central United States on Wednesday. The front will move east across the peninsula by Thursday with the potential of cooler, drier air in its wake if it is able to clear the area fully.
