DISCUSSION
Issued at 300 PM EST Tue Feb 20 2024

High pressure will continue to dominate into Thursday with fair dry weather persisting. It's looking like another rather chilly night under clear skies with temperatures dipping into the 30s and 40s across most of the area late tonight into early Wednesday morning. Will likely see some more frost like this morning across inland parts of the Nature Coast south to near the Interstate 4 corridor where temperatures dip into the middle and upper 30s.
However, like this morning a lot of this will be mostly on cars and roof tops where the temperatures dip into the upper 30s, with some areas of frost in open fields/lawns where they dip into the middle 30s from around Hernando County north.

Wednesday should be another quiet day with temperatures a few degrees warmer than today followed by another chilly night Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The real moderating trend gets underway Thursday as winds shift to easterly and then southerly as the high moves east away from the area and the next cold front approaches from the northwest.

The cold front will move southeast across the forecast during Friday afternoon and night with some showers along and ahead of it. The highest rain chances will be across the Nature Coast during the late morning and afternoon hours with the chances diminishing as the boundary moves south thanks to the upper level support moving out to the northeast.

Our next shot of cooler drier air will move in behind the front for the weekend, but nothing too extraordinary, then a quick moderating trend gets underway early next week as surface high pressure moves off the southeast U.S. coast.

AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 300 PM EST Tue Feb 20 2024

VFR conditions will prevail through Wednesday with northwest winds at 7 to 10 knots this afternoon becoming light north to northeast later this evening and overnight and then increasing to 5 to 10 knots Wednesday morning before shifting back to northwest again near the coast Wednesday afternoon.

MARINE
Issued at 300 PM EST Tue Feb 20 2024

High pressure builds over the region into early Thursday with generally north to northeast winds over the waters, except becoming northwest during the afternoon hours as the sea breeze develops. Winds switch to south to southwest during Thursday and Friday as the next cold front moves toward the area, with some showers expected mainly during the day on Friday. No headlines are expected until Friday, when wind speeds increase to exercise caution levels, possibly advisory level. Breezy northerly winds will setup behind the front on Saturday then diminish and veer to northeast Sunday.

FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 300 PM EST Tue Feb 20 2024

Drier air will remain over the region through Thursday, with several hours of critically low relative humidity values expected each day. No Red Flag conditions are expected however, as winds will remain less than 15 mph and not reach criteria. Conditions improve late in the week as a cold front approaches and brings some shower activity to the area on Friday.
