Area Forecast Discussion . CORRECTED National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 257 PM EST Fri Jan 22 2021

DISCUSSION. Weakening cold front will sag south into the forecast area Saturday leading to abundant clouds and a few showers for areas from around Tampa Bay and the Interstate 4 corridor northward. The southwesterly flow out ahead of the boundary will continue to bring slightly warmer moister air into the region leading to areas of fog, some locally dense, late tonight into Saturday morning. During Saturday night and Sunday high pressure well to the north will bridge the boundary shifting winds to east to northeast bringing some slightly drier into the area, but this will be short lived as the high moves out into the western Atlantic Ocean early next week veering low level winds to a more southerly direction once again. The threat for late night/early morning fog will persist through midweek, then a stronger cold front is expected to move through Thursday bringing our next shot of cooler drier air to end the week.

Temperatures will remain near to a few degrees above normal this weekend, then a few to several degrees above normal for the first half of next work week before the next stronger cold front moves through late in the week.

AVIATION. Mainly VFR conditions are expected into early tonight, then some areas of MVFR/local IFR conditions could develop and continue through Saturday morning. Southwest winds at 7 to 11 knots will diminish and become light tonight.

MARINE. Weak high pressure will remain across the area early tonight with south to southwest winds across the waters. Some patchy to areas of sea fog could develop later tonight into Saturday as slightly warmer moister air spreads north ahead of a weakening cold front. This boundary will settle over the waters during Saturday with another area of high pressure to the north building into the waters shifting winds to east northeast. Early next week winds will veer around to the south once again as the high to the north moves out into the western Atlantic Ocean with the chance of more sea fog returning by Tuesday.

FIRE WEATHER. Relative humidity values will remain above critical levels through the weekend with dispersion values on the low side, especially Saturday.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerous of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
