Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 753 PM EDT Mon Jul 26 2021

UPDATE. No significant changes to discuss for this evening's update. Early in the day convection across our south and central counties helped to keep much of these areas cooler compared to the Tampa Bay Area. Cooler is relative, of course. Our preliminary maximum temperature at TPA was 97 degrees which is the hottest July temperature since 2015. The all time monthly high remains at 98, however. A northward moving outflow boundary coupled with upper level cloud cover from earlier convection kept much of coastal West Central FL dry and hot . Showers will continue through the late evening hours with a few isolated thunderstorms here and there, mostly across SW and South Central FL. This will dissipate after midnight with land breeze convection firing up storms just off shore later tonight into the early morning hours.

AVIATION. VFR conditions prevail overnight with a few showers at terminals, primarily through 02-04Z. By mid to late morning, showers will develop near the coast, with thunderstorms expected to then form inland after 18Z. Winds primarily out of the southwest less than 10kt. VFR will prevail through the period outside of convective activity.

MARINE. High pressure from the Atlantic extending west across the south central Florida peninsula and into the eastern Gulf will support tranquil boating conditions over the Gulf waters tonight and through the remainder of the week, with light southwest to west winds and slight seas with an enhanced onshore sea breeze component developing along the coast each afternoon. Wind and seas will be higher in the vicinity of thunderstorms each day, otherwise no headlines are expected.
