DISCUSSION
Issued at 227 PM EST Sat Feb 8 2025
Upper-level ridging is centered to the south of the FL peninsula, with surface high pressure over N Florida. In response, a very light ESE background flow is in place. Thus, the sea breeze is again propagating inland along the coast and moderating temperatures.
Visible satellite imagery continues to show a patch of what appears to be sea fog off the Nature Coast this afternoon. Water temperatures remain cold over the region and a warm and moist enough airmass is in place in near the surface to sustain this. As the day turns to the evening and eventually overnight, the expectation is that this fog will again spread inland and south, with additional radiation fog developing further south and inland with clear skies, light winds, and temps falling to the dewpoint.
This will be the main impact for the days to come.
High pressure remains in control for the next several days, but will gradually slide farther east through the upcoming work-week as the upper-level pattern amplifies once more. Eventually, a more southerly flow will return, with additional warm air and moisture advecting into the region. By mid-week, inland high temperatures will be approaching 90 degrees.
Late-week, a cold front looks to approach the region, bringing the first meaningful chance for rain this week. However, with upper- level dynamics lifting well to the north, the boundary looks quite diffuse, suggesting the boundary will all but fall apart to the north. Moisture pooling ahead of the front will support the potential for at least a few showers on Thursday across the Nature Coast, and perhaps even Friday afternoon even into the central interior as the sea breeze pushes east with a southwest flow.
Closer to the coast, though, it is likely to remain warm and mostly sunny. The sea breeze will continue to help moderate coastal temperatures, but everyone will notice increasingly warm temperatures by next weekend.

Issued at 1231 PM EST Sat Feb 8 2025
Fog continues to be the main aviation impact. Overnight conditions remain favorable with clear skies, light winds, and efficient cooling. Based on conditions this morning, however, there is some uncertainty as to the duration and overall extent of impacts. Given the location of most airports, fog may be very close, but could potentially not have a significant impact at the actual airport.
For now, keeping VFR conditions prevailing, with some TEMPOs for the most likely window of impacts at airports where there is greater confidence. Little change in this pattern is expected for the next few days.
MARINE
Issued at 227 PM EST Sat Feb 8 2025
Sea fog continues across coastal waters north of Tarpon Springs, reducing visibilities to less than 1NM in spots. FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 227 PM EST Sat Feb 8 2025
Dry, stable weather continues as high pressure remains in control.
Low dispersions will continue to be an issue for the next few days, along with fog that lingers through mid-morning. Conditions do not support red flag conditions over the next few days.
