Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 800 PM EDT Sat Jul 4 2020

UPDATE. Mid level troughiness continues over the southeast US and northern Gulf of Mexico through Sun as a frontal boundary meanders along the AL/GA/FL border. Atlantic high pressure stretches into the southern Gulf of Mexico with an axis along the Florida Keys. These features will provide a moist west-southwest 1000-700 mb flow for the 24 hours or so. Model PWAT values range from 1.8 to over 2 inches - south to north.

The afternoon showers and limited thunderstorms currently across the area are exiting to the east and will wind down shortly. Then showers and a few storms form on the Gulf late tonight, push across coastal areas in the morning, then move inland in the afternoon. The greatest coverage is expected in the north in the morning then shifting inland in the afternoon. Low temperatures will run above normal by a couple or degrees or so while the highs stay near normal. Current forecasts are on track but have made some adjustments in the near term to better reflect ongoing conditions.

AVIATION. 05/00Z TAf cycle. Afternoon convection has cleared all the terminals except LAL which has some SHRA in the VCNTY . these should be gone by 03Z. Prevailing VFR as late night Gulf SHRA/TSRA push across northern aerodromes AFT 09Z and the southern ones AFT 12Z. A west-southwest flow pattern will shift the bulk of the SHRA/TSRA inland in the afternoon.

MARINE. A high pressure ridge axis near the Florida Keys will provide west-southwest winds and adequate moisture for showers and thunderstorms for the next few days. Winds/seas no more than 15 knots/ 3 feet . but locally high near storms.

GEOS Local Image of Southeast    EDIT
NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

I do not sell or share any user data or anything else for that matter. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
