Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 204 PM EDT Fri Jun 26 2026
New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER
KEY MESSAGES
- Daily maximum heat index values of 100-107 degrees continue into the weekend.
- Scattered showers and thunderstorms each day mainly over the interior and southwest Florida.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 154 PM EDT Fri Jun 26 2026
Forecast remains stuck on repeat today! Another warm one out with heat indices in the triple digits in many areas. Showers and storms have begun to fire up and will likely favor inland and SWFL areas once again. Areas directly on the coast may miss out on showers once again today. However, a change in the pattern is coming as the high pressure center over the area pushes further north, shifting winds more southeast. This shift, will still favor storm development inland, however, storms will shift towards the west coast in the afternoon and evenings. Hopefully, this will provide some relief for the areas that have missed out on the rainfall over the last week or so. Temperatures will continue to be hot through the weekend and into next week. With daily heat indices continuing to reach over 100.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 154 PM EDT Fri Jun 26 2026
Mostly VFR conditions continue through the period. Showers and storms will continue to develop and push further inland through the afternoon into the evening. Some showers and storms could develop in the vicinity of terminals. Conditions clear overnight, with a repeat of afternoon storms likely tomorrow.
MARINE
Issued at 154 PM EDT Fri Jun 26 2026
Marine conditions remain quiet through the period. The only exception will be isolated storms that develop over the waters.
Winds remain under 10kts and seas less than 2 ft.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 154 PM EDT Fri Jun 26 2026
Fire weather concerns remain minimal as RH values remain high and winds remain below 15mph.
