Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 250 PM EDT Fri Apr 12 2024

New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER

DISCUSSION
Issued at 250 PM EDT Fri Apr 12 2024

Quiet weather is expected for the next several days as surface high pressure moves across the area and eventually out into the western Atlantic Ocean by Monday. As the high moves out into the Atlantic Ocean low level winds will veer to east to southeast leading to a slow increase in moisture through the middle of next week, but no rain is in the forecast until at least the end of next week.
Therefore, our typical mid-April warm and dry weather is expected.
However, over the weekend temperatures will start out kind of chilly, especially across the Nature Coast where 40's are expected both mornings. Otherwise, we'll see temperatures close to normal into Monday, then begin to climb several degrees above normal by the middle of next week with daytime highs around 90 over inland areas.

AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 250 PM EDT Fri Apr 12 2024

VFR conditions are expected for the TAF forecast period. Northwest to north winds at 10 to 15 knots will continue into early this evening, then shift to north to northeast at 5 to 10 knots later this evening into Saturday morning before shifting back to northwest at around 10 knots near the coast Saturday afternoon.

MARINE
Issued at 250 PM EDT Fri Apr 12 2024

The westerly swell will shift to northwesterly tonight and gradually subside. Thus, the Small Craft Advisory will be allowed to expire this evening, but the high risk of rip currents will persist into Saturday. Conditions will continue to improve into next week as winds and seas subside with an afternoon sea breeze expected to develop each afternoon.

FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 250 PM EDT Fri Apr 12 2024

The dry airmass will hold over the region into early next week with several hours of critical relative humidity expected each day, especially over inland areas. Winds however are forecast to remain low enough to preclude any Red Flag conditions.
