DISCUSSION
Issued at 218 PM EDT Tue Oct 3 2023
The smoke/haze in place across the area today will continue to cause some visibility restrictions through the night and into Wednesday morning, though it is expected to improve through the late afternoon and overnight period. Surface high pressure will remain over the eastern seaboard, gradually shifting east, and across the local area through the rest of the work week with an upper low lingering just to the east of the state. Limited moisture will allow for only a few stray showers over the interior moving in from the east coast. Highs will generally be in the upper 80s to lower 90s with lows in the upper 60s north to the lower to mid 70s central and south.
A cold front moves in late Friday, with a secondary boundary Saturday looking to push it into south FL. It will be a mostly dry boundary, but will bring cooler and drier air into the area for Sunday and Monday. Conditions then start to moderate Tuesday with high pressure over the state and zonal flow aloft. Lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s north and in the mid to upper 60s inland to the upper 60s to lower 70s coastal central and south. Highs generally in the lower to mid 80s. Slight increase in temps on Tuesday, with a 20- 30 percent chance of rain.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 218 PM EDT Tue Oct 3 2023
Gusty NE flow is in place this afternoon with the hazy conditions continuing to cause MVFR to IFR visibilities at the terminals.
This is expected to improve, but could continue to cause minor visibility impacts through the TAF period. NE flow lightens overnight, but increases again after 14z.
MARINE
Issued at 218 PM EDT Tue Oct 3 2023
Gusty SCEC level NE winds under high pressure will remain elevated through the early overnight hours, then start to subside. Evening easterly wind surges will bring winds up for a few hours after sunset the next couple of nights that might require a brief SCEC again, but will evaluate the need for those days. The current SCEC will continue through tonight. High pressure continues through the end of the week, then a cold front will move through the area Friday night/Saturday.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 218 PM EDT Tue Oct 3 2023
No concerns for the next few days with relative humidities remaining well above critical levels.
