Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 730 PM EDT Sun Mar 8 2026

New AVIATION

KEY MESSAGES

- Temperatures continue to run well above average through the middle of the week with some record high temperatures possible each day.

- Isolated to scattered showers will develop this afternoon across mainly the interior.

- Some low clouds and patchy late night and early morning fog will be possible during the next couple of mornings.

DISCUSSION
Issued at 212 PM EDT Sun Mar 8 2026

Strong ridging will remain over the area through Wednesday. This will keep the near record breaking high temperatures in place each afternoon with highs near 90 degrees away from the coast. However, our strong easterly flow is starting to break down. This will result in some isolated showers during the early afternoon near the coast but the highest chances will be inland in the evening as the seabreeze collide. The upper level moisture start to dry out Monday through Wednesday resulting in warm and dry each afternoon and evening.

Our next cold front, if you want to call it that, is expected to push through on Thursday. As it does do we should see a line of showers and storms push through the area sometime during the day.
This cold front will help to at least bring temperatures back down to average for Friday and next Saturday.

AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 729 PM EDT Sun Mar 8 2026

VFR conditions will be in place through the remainder of the evening but areas of fog are expected to develop early Monday morning, with peak fog potential expected to be from 09-13Z. Thus, prolonged flight restrictions could occur in areas where fog becomes most dense and persistent. Otherwise, any fog that develops should generally diminish around 14Z/Monday with VFR conditions then returning to the region for the remainder of the day.

MARINE
Issued at 212 PM EDT Sun Mar 8 2026

winds will start to shift more northeasterly for Monday through Tuesday but speeds will remain light around 5 knots. The bigger concern will be sea fog developing Monday night into Tuesday morning. FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 212 PM EDT Sun Mar 8 2026

Near record breaking heat will continue through Wednesday with RHs staying above critical levels. Some beneficial rain will be possible again this evening mainly over the interior. After that things will dry out for Sunday through next Wednesday.
