UPDATE
Issued at 810 PM EDT Sun Oct 13 2024
Recent radar imagery shows a few light showers across southern portions of the forecast area where some better moisture quality is in place, though this activity is rather isolated and will fizzle out within the next hour or so. Meanwhile, drier air, clearing skies, and lighter winds will favor a cooler night than last night as overnight lows generally fall to the 60s and low 70s. While some guidance does at least hint at some fog potential overnight, don't have enough confidence to include it in the forecast at this time as the drier air advecting into the region may keep dewpoint depressions large enough to prevent development but this will be something to continue to monitor tonight.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 230 PM EDT Sun Oct 13 2024
High pressure continues to dominate our weather pattern leading to rain-free conditions and only some fair weather cumulus across central Florida. A few midlevel clouds linger across southern Florida where deeper moisture still exists. This same pattern is expected over the next couple days with warm and dry weather areawide. Temperatures through Tuesday will be slightly warmer compared to the past few days with afternoon highs topping out in the middle to upper 80s. Dewpoints in the upper 60s to lower 70s will keep heat index values in the lower 90s.
On Wednesday, a trough to the north will sweep a frontal boundary across the Florida Peninsula. This will mostly be a dry front that ushers in some cooler temperatures. However, a few sprinkles or light showers are possible during the day on Wednesday as the boundary moves through. Behind the front, cooler temperatures and drier air are expected as high pressure builds in. For Wednesday and Thursday, afternoon highs ranging from the lower 70s along the Nature Coast to the low 80s in SWFL are expected. Overnight lows are even expected to dip down into the 50 further north, with 60s expected elsewhere. The pleasant weather will continue through the end of the week with highs in the low 80s before temperatures tick up a few degrees for the weekend.
