DISCUSSION
Issued at 425 AM EST Tue Nov 28 2023
Zonal flow aloft while building surface high pressure will continue to result in northerly to northeasterly flow at the surface. In the wake of the cold front that pushed yesterday, a cooler and drier air mass continues to move over the local region, with early morning lows expected in the 40s and 50s areawide.
High clouds will continue to stream over the area today resulting in mostly cloudy skies and keeping daytime highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s today. Tonight into Wednesday, cloudiness will begin to clear as surface high pressure moves right to our north allowing clearer conditions and advecting even more dry air. As a consequence, cooler mornings are anticipated Wednesday and Thursday. Lows are forecast to range in the lower 30s to around 50, from north to south with coolest temperatures across the Nature Coast. There is potential for patchy frost those mornings, especially across the Nature Coast. Daytime highs in the 60s to 70s (Wed) and 70s to near 80 (Thu).
On Thursday, the surface high pressure quickly moves off over the Atlantic as a low pressure system moves across the South U.S.
region. This will result in a gradual warming trend as low level flow shift from the E to ESE and moisture will be advecting to our area Friday into the weekend. By next Saturday we will be back in the mid 80s with increasing rain chances across the Nature Coast into early next week. As a summary, rain free and chilly days for most of the week, gradually warm up and rain chances returning north during the weekend and early next week. Weather models suggest our next cold front should push across the area next Monday into Tuesday with additional cooler temperatures in store for us.

Issued at 425 AM EST Tue Nov 28 2023
Northerly winds as highs as 15 to 20 knots throughout the day with periods of higher gusts, mariners should exercise caution. Winds will remain breezy through much of the week while gradually veering easterly to southeasterly by the end of the week. Seas stay in the 2 to 4 feet range in the wake of the frontal boundary, with some 5 feet occasionally offshore.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 425 AM EST Tue Nov 28 2023
Northerly to northeasterly flow during the next several days, gradually veering east and southeast by the end of the week. A drier air mass continues to move into the region, with some spots across Levy County that might drop below RH critical levels today and Wednesday, but winds should remain below 15 knots reducing fire weather concerns. The rest of the week, minimum RH values are expected to remain above critical levels with no rain in the forecast until late this week.
