Synopsis.. Broad high pressure centered just off the carolina coastline ridges west-southwest over florida and into the gulf of mexico. This will keep an easterly flow around 10-15 knots and rain-free conditions for the next couple of days. By Friday evening, the high moves farther eastward near bermuda with the winds becoming more southeast through the weekend. A front also approaches the area and stalls just to the north of the waters with some showers and storms possible mainly across the northern half of the waters for Friday evening and continuing through the weekend. The cold front will move through the area on Monday and into south florida. This will bring a shift in the winds to the northwest for the first part of next week. Winds and seas are expected to stay below headline criteria through the period.

Fast upper flow will continue to bring a dense cirrus shield over the region tonight into Fri while the local surface gradient is becoming more influenced by the developing TX storm system with E then SE winds over the area that will continue the fast moderating of temps and humidly tonight and Friday. Latest grids and forecast are on track.

BKN-OVC cirrus shield will continue to stream over the region from the Gulf thru tonight with VFR conditions and light E winds tonight becoming southerly Fri.

DISCUSSION

A quasi-zonal upper level pattern has set up over Florida with surface high pressure off the Carolina coastline ridging west- southwest over Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. This will produce an east-southeast wind flow, rain-free conditions and the start of a warming trend for the next couple of days. Farther to the west, a developing area of low pressure and disturbed weather sits over the northwestern gulf coast states. This surface low will slowly lift to the northeast with the associated cold front moving into northern Florida over the weekend and stalls out along the FL/GA line. This front will produce a chance of showers and storms, primarily over the Nature coast and northern gulf waters. The cold front will move through the Florida peninsula on Monday with a slight chance of showers and a stray storm possible. The next cool down will come on Tuesday and Wednesday next week as this front shifts over south Florida.

High pressure off the Carolina coastline will move eastward and will ridge across the area through the end of the week and into the weekend. Moisture increases today as winds shift to the east to southeast, and then to the south and southeast for Friday through the weekend as a front stalls to the north of the area and allows for a few showers across the north over the weekend. A cold front will then move through the area Monday, with a few showers and storms possible with it.
