New UPDATE, AVIATION

UPDATE
Issued at 728 PM EDT Sun May 28 2023

Another mild evening across the forecast area. Temperatures and dewpoints are slightly higher than yesterday, but still well within the "comfortable" range. A few clouds linger across interior Florida, but those will continue to diminish tonight. Look for light northerly winds overnight with low temperatures falling only into the lower 60s further north and upper 60s across central and SW Florida. As the low pressure system continues to exit the region to the northeast and high pressure builds into the area, look for dry conditions to persist into Monday. Temperatures will continue to rebound, with afternoon highs on Monday topping out in the upper 80s to lower 90s for all locations.

AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 728 PM EDT Sun May 28 2023

VFR conditions generally expected through the period. Northwesterly winds this evening will diminish and turn NE during the early morning hours. Winds will then increase slightly and turn back out of the NW by midday on Monday. Patchy low clouds are possible once again tonight with spotty MVFR/IFR ceilings during the early morning hours.

DISCUSSION
Issued at 126 PM EDT Sun May 28 2023

The area of low pressure continues to lift north into the NC/SC border region, with drier air lingering across the local area.
Weak ridging continues to build in and the drier conditions will remain into Tuesday, with N/NE flow turning to the NW each afternoon with the sea breeze. Deep moisture then returns Wednesday/Thursday through the end of the period as an upper shortwave trough moves over the northern Gulf region and gradually shifts over the state while at the surface a weak trough develops over south FL. This moisture and energy will bring increasing rain chances for the end of the week and into the weekend, with around 80% chances Thursday and Friday.

Highs will be slowly warming over the next few days, with mid to upper 80s this afternoon to the lower to mid 90s by Wednesday, and then dropping back down into the upper 80s for the end of the week and weekend as the rain chances increase. Lows also gradually warm from the lower 60s to lower 70s tonight to the upper 60s to mid 70s by Thursday and through the rest of the period.
