New AVIATION, HYDROLOGY

AVIATION
(06Z TAFs)
Issued at 147 AM EDT Fri Oct 11 2024

Outside of SHRA, MVFR CIGs the the ECFL terminals have improved on the faster side, either clearing or lifting to VFR by the 06Z TAF package. Prevailing MVFR conditions are expected from KTIX- KSUA due onshore moving showers, with VIS reductions to MVFR-IFR possible in +SHRA. Most of this activity should push south of KMLB by around 12Z, but will linger INVOF KVRB-KFPR through much of the TAF period. Winds NNE 10-15 kts shift NE, becoming gusting in the afternoon, and increasing up to around 15 kts along the coast. Winds then become light northerly in the late evening and overnight.

UPDATE
Issued at 1000 PM EDT Thu Oct 10 2024

Cyclonic low level flow around the back side of departing post- tropical Milton will keep low clouds across most of the area at least the first part of tonight. As north winds veer more onshore (NE) overnight, moisture convergence and instability will support bands of showers pushing onshore. Have maintained scattered PoPs along the coast. Primary concern will be locally heavy rain that could persist as the bands orient in the shallow NE flow. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches will be possible which could cause flash ponding given the already saturated soils.

Windy conditions exist along the Volusia/north Brevard coasts with gusts up to 35 mph. These winds will gradually ease overnight as the pressure gradient around ex-Milton weakens.

Gale warning will continue over the offshore Volusia waters overnight with a Small Craft Advisory elsewhere.

MARINE
Issued at 221 PM EDT Thu Oct 10 2024

Rest of Today-Friday...Tropical Storm Warnings continue for all of the east central Florida Atlantic waters, as Milton continues to push into the Atlantic. Once Tropical Storm Warnings are able to be dropped, hazardous conditions will persist through Friday, as northeast winds remain up to 20kts, with seas 9-13ft Friday afternoon. Isolated to scattered showers will remain possible through the end of the work week.

Saturday-Tuesday...Boating conditions will gradually improve this weekend into early next week. Onshore winds this weekend become northerly on Tuesday, remaining under 15kts. Hazardous seas will continue into Sunday, with seas 7-11ft diminishing to 4-6ft by Sunday afternoon. Next week, seas 3-4ft. Generally low shower and storm chances will persist, though scattered showers will be possible along and offshore from the Treasure Coast early in the week.
