New UPDATE
UPDATE
Issued at 736 PM EST Tue Dec 5 2023
Quiet and cool evening across the area as surface high pressure builds in from the north. Winds will gradually increase overnight into Wednesday with cold air advection and pressure rises on an increasing trend in the post-frontal air mass. Overnight lows will be in the mid 40s across the Nature Coast and low to mid 50s elsewhere across the region as skies gradually clear from north to south.
DISCUSSION
Dry and cool conditions remain across the region this afternoon as high pressure builds over the southeast behind a cold front located over south Florida. Another and stronger shortwave will dig into the southeast and out over the Atlantic tonight into tomorrow, with a couple of additional shots of cooler and drier air moving over the state. Temperatures Wednesday morning will start out cooler than this morning, with highs reaching the lowers 60s to lower 70s under more sun than we've had today. The coldest morning this week will be Thursday, and while freezing temperatures are not currently forecast, several spots will likely get close in the Nature Coast region and usually cooler locations. Otherwise, lows will be mainly in the 40s for the rest of the area. The rest of the day will be pleasant as temperatures warm in response to surface high pressure moving eastward. This will shift our winds to more easterly through the end of the week, continuing the warming trend through Friday.
This weekend, a rather deep trough will move through the Plains region toward the eastern part of the country, with a strong cold front moving through the local area Sunday and Sunday night, with showers and thunderstorms expected. Ahead of this system, flow becomes southeast to south, increasing humidity as moisture pools ahead of the front. Behind the boundary, we get another bit of cooler and drier air as high pressure moves into the southeast.

VFR conditions are expected throughout the period as high pressure builds in from the north. Winds will be out of the NNW and increase overnight into Wednesday with some gusts of 20 kts or so possible throughout the day.
MARINE
Northwest to north winds will continue through tonight and tomorrow before becoming easterly through late week. Wind speeds will increase to advisory levels for portions of the waters tonight into Wednesday before decreasing Thursday through the end of the week.
FIRE WEATHER
Drier air moving into the region will lead to relative humidity values dropping close to critical levels Wednesday afternoon for parts of the interior, but Red Flag conditions are not expected at this time. Low-level moisture increases for the rest of the week with no other concerns.
