Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 114 PM EST Thu Mar 5 2026
New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER
KEY MESSAGES
- Above average temperatures continue through the week and into the weekend with some record high temperatures possible.
- There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening into early next week.
- Some low clouds and patchy late night and early morning fog will be possible the next few days.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 107 PM EST Thu Mar 5 2026 High pressure remains aloft over the region with surface ridging also extending over the state from the Atlantic. This setup will generally remain in place through the weekend and into early next week, with low-level easterly winds becoming onshore with the sea breeze each afternoon. We will see rain chances just about every day, though probabilities vary based on available moisture. Best chances as of now are the rest of today and then Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening. Then as we head into early to mid next week, a trough will move into the deep south, with a surface low and accompanying frontal boundary moving into the southeastern U.S. by the end of the week, with increasing rain chances. Otherwise, rather humid conditions will prevail with highs running well above normal.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 107 PM EST Thu Mar 5 2026 Showers and a few thunderstorms will move and develop near coastal sites through the rest of this afternoon and evening, with TEMPO groups in place for most sites. Rain will then clear by 03Z or before. Model guidance continues to show some low clouds toward daybreak Friday morning, but the best chances look to be north of the Tampa Bay area so will leave out of the TAFs for now, with the exception of KLAL.
MARINE
Issued at 107 PM EST Thu Mar 5 2026 High pressure will remain over the region through the next several days, with easterly winds becoming onshore with the sea breeze each afternoon. There will also be a chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms each day, mainly in the late afternoon and evening.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 107 PM EST Thu Mar 5 2026 High pressure will prevail for the next several days, with easterly flow giving way to the sea breeze each afternoon. Overall, relative humidity values will remain above critical levels with no fire weather concerns. Patchy fog is possible over the next few mornings.
