KEY MESSAGES
Issued at 242 AM EST Sat Feb 8 2025

- Areas to widespread fog will persist through sunrise across the area. Drivers should slow down and use low beam headlights when encountering dense fog.

- Increasingly warm high temperatures are forecast through most of next week. There is a low risk of heat- related illness for those not acclimated to unusually warm winter weather.

- Rain-free conditions persist through at least Wednesday.

UPDATE
Issued at 920 AM EST Sat Feb 8 2025

Patchy to areas of fog persist this morning across much of east central Florida. Surface observations and traffic cameras show dense fog mainly across Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Okeechobee counties. Have extended the Dense Fog advisory for these counties through 10 AM. Coastal counties have seen improved visibilities this morning, with patchy fog still remaining at times. So have opted to let the dense fog advisory end for the coastal counties. Fog should continue to lift across all of the east central Florida through the morning as daytime heating occurs. Beach cameras along the Volusia and Brevard beaches continue to show marine dense fog, so have continued the dense fog advisory for those marine legs through 11 AM. Once the fog lifts, expect conditions to be warm, dry and sunny today as high pressure remains in control. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 80s with a weak east coast sea breeze forming this afternoon.
A Moderate risk of rip currents continues at all area beaches today. Forecast remains on track with only minor adjustments to the temperatures as well as the extension of the Dense Fog Advisory for those interior counties as mentioned previously.

PREVIOUS DISCUSSION
Issued at 242 AM EST Sat Feb 8 2025

Today-Tonight...Dense fog has developed across much of east central Florida prior to 3AM this morning and continues to expand across the area. This is due to both a fog bank originating from the west coast (north and west of I-4) and radiation fog (elsewhere). A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for all but Martin County, as traffic cameras and local observations indicate visibilities below 1 mile. Will continue to monitor conditions in Martin County through sunrise, though roadways do not appear to be as impacted at this time. Fog is forecast to linger through at least 9AM, before dissipating.

Once fog lifts, clear skies are forecast through the remainder of the day. High pressure continues to dominate the weather pattern, with light and variable winds. Warm temperatures will reach the lower to mid-80s again this afternoon, leading to a weak sea breeze along the coast. There is a Moderate Risk for rip currents at area beaches.

Tonight, yet another chance for patchy to areas of fog. Dense fog will once again be possible, especially north and west of I-4, as fog drifts inland from the west coast of the peninsula. Drivers should continue to use caution if traveling overnight and in the early morning hours through the weekend. Overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Sunday...Rinse and repeat for Sunday, as the ridge axis maintains itself over the Florida peninsula, despite a cold front dropping into the Deep South. Patchy to areas of fog will begin the day, before burning off through the morning hours. Clear skies once again prevail by the afternoon, with high temperatures continuing to warm a degree or two. Highs will reach the lower to mid-80s once again. Light and variable winds, except for a weak east coast sea breeze in the afternoon. Fog is once again forecast overnight into Monday morning, with overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Next Week...The ridge axis is forecast to fend off the aforementioned cold front through mid-week. However, it will weaken while doing so, allowing for a secondary cold front to push southward through the Florida peninsula Thursday into Friday. Dry conditions continue through mid-week, before rain chances return along the front on Thursday and linger into Friday. Temperatures will warm through the period, reaching the mid to upper 80s by mid-week. This could lead to a low heat risk for those not acclimated to the warmer weather. A few record high temperatures could be threatened by Wednesday. Overnight low temperatures in the 60s.

MARINE
Issued at 242 AM EST Sat Feb 8 2025

Generally favorable boating conditions prevail. Dry conditions through the middle of next week. However, fog will remain possible, mainly during the nighttime and early morning hours, as high pressure lingers over the area. Generally south to southwesterly winds will back onshore in the afternoons, as the sea breeze develops. Winds will be generally light at around 10kts or less through Monday. Then, an approaching front will lead to winds 10-15kts into mid-week. Seas 2-3ft, building to 3-5ft Tuesday and Wednesday.

AVIATION
(18Z TAFs)
Issued at 1216 PM EST Sat Feb 8 2025

Dense fog/stratus has lifted late this past morning revealing PCloudy skies. SSW morning winds will increase to 5-10 kts and veer onshore (near 10 kts) at the coast with ECSB formation, with slow penetration inland of this feature. L/V winds again this evening and overnight as LIFR VSBYs develop again late tonight into early Sun morning as stagnant persistent pattern continues.
