GMZ300 Synopsis For High Island To The Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 Nautical Miles Including Galveston And Matagorda Bays 955 Pm Cst Thu Dec 5 2019
Synopsis for high island to matagorda ship channel out 60 nm.. Patchy fog will be possible overnight through early Friday morning in and around matagorda bay. This fog could spread toward up the upper texas coast toward galveston bay by Sunrise. A weak front is expected to push through tomorrow morning bringing in drier air that will help dissipate the fog. Isolated showers could form along this boundary as it moves into the gulf. Otherwise moderate north winds behind this front could prompt caution flags for the offshore waters briefly tomorrow night. Onshore winds are set to return Sunday. Another front may pass through the region Monday night with a better chance of showers with it and a moderate to strong offshore flow developing in its wake.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 1003 PM CST Thu Dec 5 2019

DISCUSSION. No arguments with the ongoing fcst. Look for some fog to develop out toward Matagorda Bay then spread north and east overnight prior to the mostly dry morning fropa. Just some insignificant tweaks for the evening update to match ongoing trends. 47

PREV DISCUSSION. /ISSUED 615 PM CST Thu Dec 5 2019/ AVIATION [00Z TAF Issuance] . Overall, TAFs should remain quiet even with the passage of the next cold front early Fri morning. Main issue will be the dev- elopment of fog/lower visibilities overnight . especially over the S/SW counties and at the coast. The low T/Td spreads along with decreased winds tonight ahead of the front will be favor- able for the development of patchy fog across these areas. Not going with any changes with the previous estimated FROPA times (@CLL around 13Z/@IAH around 15Z/@GLS around 17Z). The cooler/ drier air in the wake of the front will help to slowly mix the patchy (possibly dense) fog out by mid to late morning. 41

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
