Marine Weather and Tide Forecast for Steinhatchee, FL

Generally the forecast is looking good, increasing/lingering clouds across the region may prevent temps from hitting the upper 90s, but confidence is not high enough to nudge down afternoon high temps.

SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM
(Tonight through next Monday)

The heat continues today through at least Wednesday, when there is the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. Hazardous heat today through Wednesday with highs in the mid-90s to around 100 degrees. For today, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for heat index ranging from 108-112F, and an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for much of the Eastern FL Panhandle and portions of the FL Big Bend for heat index ranging from 113-115F. There will also be little overnight relief from the heat tonight with lows around 80F. On Wednesday, additional heat headlines are likely, then aftn/eve showers/storms will help cool it down. SPC has outlooked a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) over portions of Southwest GA and the FL Big Bend, and a Marginal (Level 1 of 4) across the remainder of the region. The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts, in addition to prolific lightning. Looking ahead, a wet pattern is in store continuing through the weekend, but that will also yield relatively cooler temperatures.

Weak northwest to northerly flow aloft today will bring in somewhat drier mid-level air from the north, while that flow direction will pin the convection-focusing seabreeze close to the coast. As such, convective coverage will be low or lacking for northern and inland terminals such as DHN, ABY, and VLD. Instead, convection will be focused closer to the coast likely affecting ECP and possibly getting close to TLH late this afternoon.

MARINE

Gentle to moderate westerly breezes today will become onshore close to the coast and maximize in the seabreeze zone with significant wave heights around 2 to 3 feet. On Wednesday, a complex of thunderstorms/outflow boundaries is expected to move across the waters during the afternoon and evening with briefly higher winds and seas likely. Keep an eye to the sky and head to port if threatening weather approaches. From Wednesday through at least Friday, fresh West or Southwest winds are expected, with significant wave heights around 2 to 4 feet.

FIRE WEATHER

The heat will be hazardous to those outdoors today and Wednesday with highs in the mid-90s to around 100 degrees and heat index values well into the triple digits. The seabreeze will make some inland progress today, but expect more limited shower/thunder chances, mainly south of I-10. On Wednesday, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and evening with erratic and gusty winds as well as prolific lightning possible.
High dispersion is also expected just inland from the Gulf coast today and possibly north of I-10 on Wednesday. Transport winds will be out of a westerly direction today and Wednesday.

HYDROLOGY

A wetter pattern is in store Wednesday through at least this weekend as a front moving south through the region is expected to stall. WPC has highlighted the region in a Marginal (level 1 of 4) risk for Excessive Rainfall. The main concern is minor flooding of areas of poor drainage, but isolated flash flooding cannot be ruled out eventually. There are no riverine flooding concerns.
