SHORT TERM
(This evening through Saturday Night)
Issued at 224 PM CDT Fri Apr 25 2025
Isolated shra/tstms across northern parts of SE TX will diminish early this evening with the loss of heating. Otherwise, partly to mcldy conditions redeveloping overnight along with some areas of fog (esp along & north of I-10). After some morning cloudiness, look for pcldy-msunny conditions on Saturday with highs in the mid-upper 80s. Can't completely rule out a diurnally driven shra or two, but ridging aloft should keep chances/coverage quite low to nil. Not much change Sat night with warm/muggy conditions continuing and some late night cloud cover filling back in. 47
LONG TERM
(Sunday through next Thursday)
Issued at 224 PM CDT Fri Apr 25 2025
Quiet weather will finish off the weekend and kick off early next week as the ridge continues to build in overhead. Onshore flow in the lower levels will continue to draw in moisture from the Gulf, and with continued WAA should expect the hot and humid conditions to continue through the long-term. Highs each day will be in the 80s with isolated locations reaching the 90 degree mark.
A closed low will evolve into an mid/upper-level shortwave trough as it tracks eastward into the Great Plains early in the week. Tuesday will feature an increase rain probabilities as this system approaches SE Texas. 500 mb layer shows pulses of vort maximums rotating around the periphery of this trough, and with the available moisture (PW values in the 1.2-1.6" range), this should be conducive to daily shower and thunderstorm development from the NW spreading SE Tuesday through the end of the period.

AVIATION
(00Z TAF Issuance)
Issued at 618 PM CDT Fri Apr 25 2025
Some isolated storms have popped up around CLL this evening, but these should be dissipating through the next couple of hours with the loss of daytime heating. Otherwise, expect VFR conditions with southeasterly winds around 10kt through the evening. MVFR to IFR conditions will develop late tonight through sunrise Saturday (generally between 8-15z) with CIGs between 700-1500ft and patchy, but occasionally dense, fog. CXO, UTS, and CLL will have the best chances of getting the IFR conditions due to dense fog and low CIGs , while MVFR conditions will generally prevail for the other terminals. VFR conditions will return to the area by the mid- morning and prevail through the remainder of the day with SE winds around 8-12kt.

MARINE
Issued at 224 PM CDT Fri Apr 25 2025
Onshore winds of 10 to 15 knots as seas of 3 to 5 feet can be expected up through the beginning of next week. The area is expected to be generally rain free this weekend through early next week, before another active weather pattern takes shape near the middle of next week. Persistent onshore winds will also bring a higher risk of rip currents along Gulf-facing beaches.
