Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 1252 AM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026

New DISCUSSION, AVIATION

KEY MESSAGES
Issued at 1252 AM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026

- Sub-freezing temperatures are once again expected across the region late tonight and into Wednesday morning, with the exception of the immediate coast.

- Temperatures will then warm to above normal through the week and well above normal over the upcoming weekend into Monday.

DISCUSSION
Issued at 1252 AM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026

It remains a temperature forecast through early next week as a dry northwesterly flow pattern aloft keeps the area rain-free. A Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8am Wednesday for all areas except for the immediate coastline, with temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s inland expected. Lows in the middle 30s are forecast along the coast. KMOB could get very close to, or may even tie, the daily record low today as the current record low is 32 degrees. Temperatures then gradually warm everyday through early next week. In fact, highs Saturday through Monday will reach the lower to middle 80s (upper 70s along the coast) and lows will only drop into the upper 50s to lower 60s. A Low Risk of rip currents continues through the week and into the upcoming weekend. /22

AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1252 AM CDT Wed Mar 18 2026

VFR flight categories will persist through the Wednesday evening with a gradual increase and lowering of high level clouds. Calm to light north to northeast winds tonight will become southeasterly 5-10 knots along the coast Wednesday afternoon, but remain light and variable inland areas. /22
