Today through the mid week...
Forecast for the short term period remains on track with no major adjustments made to the overall forecast. Weather conditions will remain quiet today as the sfc high continues to shift east across the southeast region. Mid/high cloud cover will start to increase from the north early this morning mainly across portions of central and northern MS. Morning lows will range in the low to mid 40s areawide. Cloud cover will start to decrease across our CWA later this afternoon leading to mostly sunny skies. Afternoon highs will peak in the mid to upper 70s across our forecast area.
Quiet and dry conditions will prevail across the region later tonight thanks to the aforementioned sfc high. HRRR dense fog guidance is showing very low probabilities (around 20-30%) of patchy fog development mainly for areas along and south of Hwy 84 through early Friday morning. Fog graphics will not be introduced at this time given the low probability of fog development highlighted by HRRR dense fog guidance. With that in mind, shallow patchy fog will be possible particularly after dawn. Areas east of I-55 will see overnight lows dip in the upper 40s/lower 50s. Areas along and west of I-55 will see lows in the mid 50s.
Dry conditions will continue into the weekend through early next week. Daytime highs will climb into the 80s Friday through Sunday.
Temperatures will start to cool slightly across the southeast CONUS Monday into Tuesday as long term guidance shows a dry frontal boundary moving through the region. As the frontal boundary pushes south towards the Gulf Coast, increased return flow will develop over the our area. This will allow for temperatures to rebound into the 80s Wednesday into Thursday. /CR/
